The course Mudra and Bandha offers a foundational introduction to mudra and bandha, two essential yet often underexplored components of classical Hatha Yoga. Aimed at yoga practitioners, teachers, and seekers interested in the deeper dimensions of yogic practice, the course provides a structured and experiential approach to understanding and applying these subtle techniques. Through a combination of theoretical insight and guided practice, participants will learn how to activate and direct internal energy for greater stability, vitality, and meditative depth.

Course Highlights

Understand the definition, purpose, and classification of mudras and bandhas in classical yoga.

Learn key mudras and bandhas and how to apply them safely and effectively.

Explore their role in energetic regulation, mental focus, and deeper states of awareness.

Receive detailed guidance on practice stages, benefits, and precautions.

Mudra and bandha are powerful internal techniques described in traditional texts such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Gheranda Samhita. While external postures and breathing form the foundation of yoga, mudras (gestures or seals) and bandhas (energetic locks) serve to channel the subtle energies (prana) within the body, enhancing the effects of asana, pranayama, and meditation. This course introduces these techniques in a safe and accessible manner, focusing on their practical use and their capacity to support mental clarity, energetic balance, and inner stillness.

THIS COURSE IS ADDRESSED TO

Yoga practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of the subtle yogic techniques of mudra and bandha.

Yoga Teachers seeking to expand their knowledge for more comprehensive and complete instruction.

Meditators and yogis interested in inner energy management and heightened awareness.

Individuals looking for effective tools to enhance focus, vitality, and meditative experience.

CONTENTS OF THE COURSE

The IYC Mudra and Bandha consists of 16 hours of intensive training held over two days. It includes both theoretical study and guided practice, offering participants a clear and methodical approach to integrating these classical techniques.

The theoretical section explores the philosophical, anatomical, and energetic foundations of mudras and bandhas. Participants will study their purpose, mechanisms, and classification according to key yogic texts, along with a discussion of when and how these techniques should be introduced into a personal practice.

The practical component offers step-by-step instruction in primary mudrās and key bandhas. Emphasis is placed on safety, precision, and the progressive integration of these tools into a broader yoga or meditation practice. Each technique is accompanied by clear explanations, indications, and contraindications to ensure correct and beneficial application. Participants will leave with the knowledge and confidence to continue their practice independently and responsibly.

CERTIFICATION

All participants will be awarded at the completion of the program with the IYC Certificate of the course Mudra and Bandha, officially issued by PRAMANA INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE.
