Haṭha Yoga is a sophisticated system within the broader Indian yogic tradition that employs an integrated methodology of bodily disciplines, vital-energy regulation, and contemplative practices to transform the human organism into a suitable vehicle for higher states of consciousness and spiritual realization. Rooted in medieval tantric and ascetic traditions and codified in seminal texts such as the Haṭhapradīpikā, Gheraṇḍa Saṃhitā, and Śiva Saṃhitā, Haṭha Yoga is not merely a system of physical postures but a comprehensive technology of embodiment aimed at the purification (śodhana), stabilization, and sublimation of prāṇic forces within the subtle body (sūkṣma śarīra).
